75 Years of Broadcasting

This summer the Curry community mourned the loss of Boston broadcaster and distinguished Curry professor, Roger Allan Bump. In honor of his achievements and Curry's recent celebration of 75 years in the field of broadcasting, a short documentary was created. Get your first look here:

Catch the Colonels!

With the Fall academic semester approaching fast, I am reminded that the Fall athletic season will also begin shortly. During the Fall season, Curry competes in men's football and soccer, and women's cross country, soccer, and tennis. A complete Fall athletic schedule can be found here. The annual Purple & White football scrimmage will be held at 2:30 on August 23rd, with the opening home game of the 2008 season to be held on September 13th. The football team is coming off its fifth consecutive NEFC Championship and made its fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. Clearly, there is no better time to catch the Curry Colonels!

If you are interested in joining one of our Division III athletic programs, be sure to complete the student athletic information sheet.

Summer Writing?

As we head into the middle of summer and indulge in the time-honored tradition of summer reading, let me propose another useful activity: summer writing. Before you begin your busy senior year, take some time to get a head start on your college applications. And, as a special treat to my dedicated readers here at the Curry College Admission Blog, I'm going to reveal the essay questions found on the Curry College Application. Our application asks you to choose from one of the following questions:

1. Describe your most significant success, failure, or personal experience to date. How has it affected your life?
2. Choose an issue of international, local, or national concern that is of special interest to you. Describe your position on the issue and how you would resolve it.
3. Tell us of a person who has had a significant influence on your life and describe the way in which this person has affected you.

So remember to bring some paper and a pencil along with your clunky copy of The Grapes of Wrath to the beach this summer. Happy writing!

Summer @ Curry

It has been a busy start to the summer here in Milton. The feeling on campus has been one of change. As 754 students received their diplomas and looked to the future, so did the Curry Community.

In May, the campus gathered to celebrate a groundbreaking ceremony for our new student center. Be sure to read about all the incredible features our center will house.

Already in June, we have begun welcoming Curry's Class of 2012! The first new student orientation was held this past weekend, with two more sessions to be held in the coming weeks. These new students and their families bring excitement and rejuvenation to all of us at Curry.

And in July and August, we will be holding our annual Explore Curry Days (ECD) for high school seniors. We are now accepting reservations - so all you seniors out there make sure to mark your calenders! Here is the link with more details.

Till next time...stay cool and be sure to check out this video made by students in our Communications program!

Chloe and the Colonel meet at Curry College!

Today Curry welcomed the crew from YOUniversity TV to campus. This Florida based company provides prospective students with online video tours of college campuses. They made the trip to Milton as part of their national tour. Curry was their first stop in Massachusetts and will be featured on their website soon! We enjoyed taking the hosts, Chloe and Lavaughn, around on this unusually cold May day. Highlights included meeting the Curry Colonel, playing football on the Walter M. Katz Field, and sitting behind the news desk of Curry Channel 8. Did you know that Curry College is one the first colleges in the country to offer HDTV instruction? This is one of the many cool facts that was covered during the tour. So check back in the coming months for a link to the video!
